Don’t Say I Didn’t Warn You

Posted July 25, 2009 | Category: Updates | 6 comments.

Well, it’s official: I’ve purchased ispirata.net. (Ispirata.net. Not Inspirata. I can already see this being a problem… hopefully it’ll resolve itself in time.)

I’m not moving until EVERYTHING is set up to my liking. I’ll need to re-write all of my pages, and of course find myself a new host and install the new CMS I really want to try out (and if it doesn’t work out you can expect me to take even longer getting things set up.) I’ve got all of this week, but as I’m going to the beach the week after, and I can’t really forsee everything being set up before then. But just as a warning, you’ll have to update your links soon.

Awesome, Rainy! That’s the one I was hoping you’d buy; its the prettiest, in my opinion.
I’m sure your new site’s going to be great!

Hiya, Emily! =)

Ispiratia.net sounds really beautiful and unique. I can’t wait to see the rewritten pages. I do think that might confuse people since there’s no ‘n’, but I think it actually flows better that way. By the way, an idea for a host is dreamhost.com; I’ve been with them for about two months now, and they’re extremely helpful and have lots of great features. I would definitely reccommend them ^^

I need some advice… I’ve been considering shutting down my Warriors roleplay/graphics website, KitClan. I’ve had it for over a year and feel attatched to it (not to mention there would be a lot of people who would probably be mad if I decided to close), but I feel like it’s not going the way I intended it. I think I would be happier having a little blog website with random tidbits of stuff, rather than mainly generic content, even if it has my own unique spin on it. I already went ahead and purchased fortchicky.com (the name is a long story xD), but I don’t know what to do. Now that I have the domain, I’m definitely going to try and see how it works, but I’m undecided about whether or not I should close KitClan. I know a lot of people like RPing there, but I don’t want to give it to my staff and say, “Hey, go ahead and run the site. I don’t want to keep it up anymore.”

Any advice?

@Lighty: I went through a similar decision when I closed TCG2. I didn’t really have the energy or desire to keep it up myself, but I didn’t want to hand over my loads of hard work to someone else, either (even though quite a few people said they would be willing to take it off my hands). In the end, even though I knew TCG2 had become a relatively popular fansite, I closed it for my own personal reasons- I decided that I’d rather be happy with where I am than continue doing what people expected of me (this is even a bit true of my switching from RainysWorld to Ispirata, even though they’re going to be fairly similar sites.)

In the end, I’d say it’s your call- it’s probably even harder to close down a forum, after all, as the community is much tighter- but I’d say do whatever makes you happiest. You’ll probably see some of the same people lurking around your new website as well- your friends will more than likely follow you, you’ll see. :)

The name is awesome! I’ll probably be the first one to mess it up XD I’m bad at things like this!

Thanks for the help :) It’s nice to think I’m not just over-exaggerating, and that other people have felt the same way.
